Needed more room to store sap from 2 maples and 4 box elders, so bought a 6 qt pot from the thrift store, installed an outer liner of aluminum flashing on base of rocket stove, fired up rocket stove, and began boiling about 6 gallons of sap, for about 9 hours to get 5 1/2 quarts of condensed sap. Did not need to concentrate to syrup levels as will be used to sweeten canned fruit. Took a lot of time and monitoring, but worked. Next batch might go quicker now that I know how to boil sap on the stove. Used kindling and wood scraps for fuel.
Pour hot sap into canning jars for storage. Sweet treat to come, I hope.
